Train of Thoughts: The Housemaid and Fourth Wing

* contains spoilers *

disclaimer: book review is not my niche, I just want to share my thougts about the book I have read.

I have been blogging about my Kindle discoveries for a time now, and between those times I wrote those blog posts, I managed to finish two books!

The first I read on my Kindle is The Housemaid by Freida Mcfadden. This is a Psychological Thriller book which evolved mostly around Millie "the housemaid" and Nina the spoiled and wealthy wife.

The story delves into the life of Millie Calloway, a young woman with a troubled past, who finds herself employed as a housekeeper for Nina and Andrew Winchester, a wealthy woman grappling with apparent mental health issues. - Barnes & Noble

It was a page turner, easy to read and got me hooked. While reading, I got this eagerness to know why Nina treats Millie like that, what's with her mood swings and why is she lying!

*Trigger Warning* The Housemaid has manipulation and abuse themes along with the suspense elements. Nina's history was touched on more than Millie. I wished I knew more about Millie's history! [ But maybe I can find this on the second book. ]

The ending is the most satisfying of all. And I was so shocked about a peak on Andrew's past (her mother being the original sadist!) Although I said it was the most satisfying, I wished for more detailed storytelling of how Millie made Andrew suffer. HAHA (ノ°益°)ノ

I rated this book 4/5 on Goodreads.

The latest is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Okay, this for me is a combination of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Hunger Games. If you like those, I think you will like this one too.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

The author has a chronic illness Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome 101 and it was hinted on the novel that Violet has the same. So, I still do not understand why Violet's mom wanted her to be a dragon rider! She thinks more of upholding their family career than her daughter's safety, realy? Anyway! I like the story especially because of the dragons! The hierarchy of the dragons, their politics, their sassiness - everything about them! When they have the spotlight on the book, I love it!

There were ***spicy*** scenes between Xaden and Violet, but, uhmmmmm the enemies to lovers trope? I thought it's a meh. I think the love story was forced. 80% of the book talks about them bickering and then suddenly they are in love. A man was in love with the daughter of the woman who led to his father's death? ლ(¯ロ¯"ლ)

I still rated this 4/5 - because of the dragons. I love you two, Tairn and Andarna! (*¯ ³¯*)♡

The twist on the ending! Looking forward to the sequel! ヽ(*⌒▽⌒*)ノ
