Train of Thoughts: How One Piece Live Action made me watch the Anime

photo from Pinterest

My partner / boyfriend and I are anime fans and have our own list of animes we want to watch and those we are currently watching.

When we started dating, he has been bugging me to watch One Piece. I told him I am open to watch it but there are still ongoing animes I watch. Also, there are also good k-drama series on Netflix and Disney+ these days so I cannot find yet a time. Yes, I needed to find time for it because he said there are already 1000 + episodes!

Lol, but those excuses I just mentioned were broken recently.

Right: my partner's gaming desk. he has those one piece posters! he really is a fan

One Piece is an anime based on Eiichiro Oda's manga series of the same name. It is a stoty of a carefree guy named Luffy whom have eaten a Devil Fruit giving him powers and properties of a rubber. With his crew, they will explore the Grand Line to search for the ultimate treasure.

Netflix premiered the Live Action adaption on August 31 and it has created a buzz on social media to its anime fans and even non-fans. It stars main casts Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Jacob Romero as Usopp and Mackenyu as Zoro.

Mackenyu as Zoro

This guy right up here made me watch the One Piece Live Action. Yes guys! I watched the live action first before the anime. There was a buzz when the series was released and one of the trending posts about the live action is ZORO! A lot of girls are swooning over him. Hahaha. I cannot deny too that this guy - Mackenyu in real life is actually cute! So I watched some clips and got interested. Fast forward, I finished watching the series. The fight scenes were choreographed well on the live action making me want to see more of Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Nami and Usopp fighting other pirates and villains! Most of all, I like the plot of the anime. And the only way I can satistfy this "hunger" is, watching the next episodes on the anime.

I remember what I told my partner when I turned on Netflix and he saw me watching the live action - "I'll watch this first and if I like it, I will start watching the anime." ◕‿↼)

And so I did...

While watching, I realized that the 8 episode series was based from 50+ episodes of the anime. Some episodes were skipped, and some were mixed up - intentionally. I suggest that people should watch the anime because the back stories of each of the characters were more tackled in it and the timeline is precise. Also, there is this character that you will adore.... I adore him too much now - Tony Tony Chopper! (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Anyway, brb. I am watching One Piece now and finally at episode 100!
