Kindle Tips: Transfer books via Kindle email

You may have just got yourself a Kindle but don't know how to transfer your existing ebooks to your device. Or let's face it, you may be broke - have purchased low priced ebooks from thrift facebook shop pages or you may have downloaded it from free ebook libraries.

o(╥﹏╥)o

I also have books on my Kindle that were not purchased from Amazon, some of my books are from Anna's archive and Wattpad. I included here steps on how I transferred my ebooks from my PC to my Kindle device. (◕‿-)

Supported formats.

  • Microsoft Word (.DOC, .DOCX)

  • HTML (.HTML, .HTM)

  • RTF (.RTF)

  • Text (.TXT)

  • JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)

  • GIF (.GIF)

  • PNG (.PNG)

  • BMP (.BMP)

  • PDF (.PDF)

  • EPUB (.EPUB)

Notice from Amazon: Beginning in early 2023, you'll no longer be able to send MOBI (.AZW, .MOBI) files to your Kindle library using Send to Kindle. This change won't affect any MOBI files already in your Kindle library. You can still read them with Kindle. MOBI is an older file format and won't support the newest Kindle features for documents.

Send Via Kindle Email - Accounts needed

Upon creating your account on Kindle, you will get a Kindle email. This will be visible on your device. Just go to All Settings > Your Account. At the bottom, you will see Send-to-Kindle Email.

Alternatively, you can check your Kindle email on Amazon website > Accounts & Lists > Content & Devices > Preferences > Personal Document Settings

Amazon website > Accounts & Lists > Content & Devices >

Personal Document Settings showing Kindle email

Then, the email address that you will use on sending the ebook should be on the list of Approved Personal Document E-mail List. This will be defaulted as your email address linked to Amazon but you can also add by clicking Add a new approved e-mail address.

Send Via Kindle Email - Step by Step

Now that you have the accounts prepared, you can now send your ebooks.

  1. Open your e-mail application ( GMAIL, Yahoo )

  2. Click new message then paste your Kindle email on the recipient field

  3. Attach your ebook

  4. Do not put any subject on the email.

  5. Hit send

The book will be sent, and you just have to wait 1 to 2 minutes for it to sync.

Alternatively, you may also go to this site: Send to Kindle.

Drag and the drop the books you want and hit Send.

The book I sent - The Housemaid is now on my Kindle but it's type appeared as Document. I am not very particular with the type so I am okay with it.

I hope this blog helped you on your Kindle experience. Thanks for reading! (✿ ♥‿♥)

Note: The book will be tagged as documents on your device.
